Snow

Unity Sand Ceremony

Grains of sand represent separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. By joining them all together, they become one. Your marriage will be inseparable, just as the grains of sand.

Snow

Kids Bell Ceremony

Have your child, or young one herald the entrance of the bride as a Bell Ringer. Just before the entering of the bride, this child will walk down the aisle ringing a glass or porcelain bell acknowledging, THE BRIDE IS COMING! THE BRIDE IS COMING! A smile risen crowd will lovingly applaud the little boy or girl. Kids love it too!

Snow

13 Arras

The tradition of 13 arras, or gold coins, originates from a Spanish tradition that has been passed along and incorporated into Mexican culture. Each coin represents the possessions of the couple distributed in the 12 months of the year with one more to share with the poor. The groom gives the bride thirteen gold coins as a symbol of his unquestionable trust and confidence. Acceptance by the bride means taking that trust and confidence unconditionally with total dedication and prudence.

Snow

Same sex community

Although same sex ceremonies are not legally recognized in Mexico; we recognize them. Spiritual same sex ceremonies are allowed and we are pleased to perform them for you. A commitment ceremony is a way of publicly proclaiming your commitment to each other - it can be performed as a traditional or contemporary ceremony.

Snow

Rose Ceremony

In the Rose Ceremony, the Bride and Groom give each other a Rose. If you have children, and you want them involved as well, you may have a rose for each of them also. The Rose is recognition to the new and most honorable title of "Husband and Wife", the Rose means the words, “I love you”.

Snow

Stone Throw Ceremony (or switch to shells)

As the ripples of the tossed stones intertwine with one another, the couples love and touch will intertwine to spread love and good wishes to all around us.

Snow

Hand Ceremony

By holding each other’s hands facing palms up, you will be able to see the gift that they are to you. A nice way of showing the importance of having each other. These are the hands of your best friend.

Snow

Vow Renewals

The vow renewal that you exchange are a reaffirmation of the love that you share. They are a gift of oneself and a promise of acceptance and support. Rejoin your life to theirs, not merely as your husband or wife, but as your best friend, your lover, and your confidant , for the one you want to say “I love you all over again”.

Snow

Unity Candle

The two candles alit represent your individual selves. The candle in the middle is a candle of Marriage, representing the light of two people in love. It takes a commitment because it takes two people working together to keep it aflame, to create the new light.

Snow

Lasso Ceremony

The Lasso is a wedding ritual in which the couple are bound together with a ceremonial rosary. Lassoing is a declaration of intent, where the bride and groom clearly state that they are marrying of their own free will.

Snow

Naming Ceremony

Naming ceremonies are secular (non-religious) ceremonies. It's entirely up to you as to how you would like the ceremony to be organized but they usually last about 20 minutes. During the ceremony you, as parents, state your love and commitment to your child and declare hopes for their future. You can choose to read poetry or a favorite piece of prose, with music playing in the background.

Rather than godparents, whose traditional role is to help guide the child in a Christian life, 'supporting adults' or 'mentors' (who may be friends or family) just need to say that they will be there for your child as he or she grows up and throughout their life in whatever way is needed.

Brad, the Officiant, was so sincere with his words and even though I only met him for a few minutes, I felt very comfortable and was so glad he was part of our day as well. We had so many comments on what a touching and amazing ceremony it was.

All we can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! You are incredible and very talented at what you do. If you ever need a reference, etc.....we would be happy to tell others how you made our wedding the best day of our lives.

Estimado Lisandro:
As a same sex couple who wanted desperately to experience a wedding as traditional as possible, we were apprehensive about finding, booking and working with service providers who would truly provide their service without judgment and with the sincerity of honoring our commitment as something real.
We were fortunate to have found Lisandro Ghione to be the officiate of our July 15, 2017 ceremony. Lisandro provided his services with fidelity and professionalism, but with the fun spirited personality that made working with him our sincere pleasure. Lisandro was efficient in getting the ceremony script to us in advance, he was flexible in revising it to accommodate our specific expectations, he was personable and helpful to us in all capacities throughout the day and then sincerely happy as he performed the ceremony and shared in our commitment to each other with true appreciation. Without hesitation, we would recommend Lisandro for consideration in officiating a wedding, commitment ceremony or any other ceremony that unites same sex couples in partnership.

Frequently Asked Questions

To help you in your quest to plan the perfect wedding here...

Puerto Vallarta is located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico on the Bay of Banderas - Bahia de Banderas, nestled in between the states of Jalisco and Nayarit. Originally a small fishing village, along with many others dotted along the bay, Puerto Vallarta has now grown into a sophisticated resort destination. This is partly due to the fact that a very famous Hollywood director, none other than John Huston, came to the area to film Night of the Iguana starring Ava Gardner & Richard Burton in 1963.

Despite its popularity and the new resort developments, the city retains much of its old Mexico charm. The Old Town and Romantic Zone are graced with cobblestone streets, and white stucco buildings. You will find flea markets, art and jewellery galleries and fine dining restaurants sitting alongside traditional street taco stands and locals going about their day to day lives. Take a leisurely wonder along the Malecón (boardwalk) enjoying the nightly activities of the markets and street vendors. Stop in at local bar or restaurant to sample the fine Jalisco made Tequilas or sip a Margarita as the sun sets over the water. Paradise!

You'll find all sorts of accommodation available from budget inns, all-inclusive hotels to world class beachfront resorts from the south of the bay to the north. All areas north of Puerto Vallarta are accessible by the main highway stretching from Boca de Tomatlan just to the south, through the cobble streets of the Puerto Vallarta's old town, heading north through the hotel zone and Nuevo Vallarta, all the way to the top of the bay at Punta de Mita. Some of the beaches in the southern section of the bay are only accessible by boat such as Las Animas, Quimixto, Majahuita, Yelapa and Chimo. They make for a great day excursion.

Anytime of the year is a perfect time to have your wedding ceremony in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit with an average of 300 sunny days per year and an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit). The cooler winter months (dry season) in this tropical paradise range from November to April. The rainy season extends from late June to early October.

Outdoor recreation is limitless. Every imaginable water sport is available along Puerto Vallarta's and Riviera Nayarit’s sandy shorelines; fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing and parasailing to name a few. And of course the lush surrounding mountains provide plenty of adventure activities such as canopy tours, horseback riding, and hiking as well as experience some of the traditional Indian culture in the small historic mountain villages. The bay is a golfer’s paradise with numerous world class golf courses to choose from. There are many tour companies operating in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit that offer wonderful tours to entertain the whole family. Your vacation accommodation should have tour information and the Tourist office located in the Town Hall in the main square of downtown Puerto Vallarta also has tour information and event listings.

Some of Vallarta’s must do activities:

Rhythms of the night.

Rhythms of the Night is an amazing journey, back in time, to a spiritual land that time forgot.

Set at Las Caletas, the former jungle hideaway of film director, John Huston, this magical paradise is only accessible by sea.

One hour’s sail away, The journey takes you past the town of Vallarta,. Illuminated golden by the setting sun, it grants you a photographic opportunity that you just won’t be able to resist.

The secluded cove of Las Caletas by night is a mesmerising vision of flickering torches.

Soft music fuses with the song of the jungle to ensure a heady mix of mysticism and romance.

The candlelit dining experience is one you will cherish for years to come, as the moonlit ocean laps at your feet and tropical palms sway overhead.

And, just when you feel this reverie could not be any sweeter, a rhythmical drumbeat beckons you deep into the heart of the shadowy jungle, calling you to a magical gathering of the spirits.

This is a breathtaking evening and unlike any other you will ever witness again.

Many couples dream of a beach wedding. This is of course very achievable in Puerto Vallarta and other locations of Riviera Nayarit. Our wedding officiants can perform your ceremony on any beach as ALL beaches in Mexico are public.

You may choose to have the ceremony at your hotel in close proximity to your accommodation with a ceremony in the sand and a poolside reception. Many hotels have wedding packages available.

There are many Villas and private homes designed with stunning gardens perfectly set-up to accommodate wedding ceremonies and receptions. Another neat idea is to have your wedding at the beautiful Botanical gardens which is located south Puerto Vallarta or on an exquisite ranch in Nayarit.

Other coastal destination beaches within Mexican minutes north of the Banderas Bay can also be reached. Ceremonies to Remember will travel to any part of the Bay to perform your wedding ceremony.

There are many options to celebrate your wedding, from just the bride and groom accompanied by the minister in an intimate ceremony to an extravagant affair; we are able to suit your ceremony to the size and style of your desired type of wedding. The sky is the limit!

Symbolic Ceremonies are just as the name suggests - Symbolic. They are not legally binding and are performed by a non-dominational minister, like our team of professional ministers here at Ceremonies to Remember. Symbolic Ceremonies are typically chosen by couples already married or planning their legal marriage in their home town or by people wishing to renew their vows. The Symbolic Ceremony option is the easiest to arrange and to avoid the "paper work" involved in a legal wedding.

Civil (legal) Ceremonies can only be performed by a judge appointed by the Civil Registry Office - Registro Civil, in each state of Mexico. The Judges do not work on a Sunday. You can marry at the registry office or you can request that the judge come to your preferred location for an extra fee. Your Marriage Certificate will be valid world-wide, but you should get your certificate 'legalized' in Mexico to ensure it is legally accepted when you get back home. For more information on the legal requirements, please see the next question and answer.

Religious Ceremonies such as Catholic and Jewish are also available in Mexico. The bride and groom will require an official letter from their church, Priest or Rabbi giving them permission to marry in Mexico. Catholic ceremonies also require the birth certificate, baptism certificate and confirmation certificate from both the bride and the groom. (Originals that you will receive back) They also require photocopied identification of your witnesses such as a licence or passport.

*Please note, to our knowledge all the information above is accurate. However, we do suggest that you check with the Civil Registry office - Registro Civil in the states of Jalisco or Nayarit for any changes and updated information. Please also visit our links page for direct access to the US and Canadian Embassy sites.

** We suggest you arrive at least 3 to 5 business days before your scheduled wedding date to allow time for all of the procedural requirements.
