Q. What is there to do in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit?

Outdoor recreation is limitless. Every imaginable water sport is available along Puerto Vallarta's and Riviera Nayarit’s sandy shorelines; fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing and parasailing to name a few. And of course the lush surrounding mountains provide plenty of adventure activities such as canopy tours, horseback riding, and hiking as well as experience some of the traditional Indian culture in the small historic mountain villages. The bay is a golfer’s paradise with numerous world class golf courses to choose from. There are many tour companies operating in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit that offer wonderful tours to entertain the whole family. Your vacation accommodation should have tour information and the Tourist office located in the Town Hall in the main square of downtown Puerto Vallarta also has tour information and event listings.

  • Rhythms of the night.

  • Los Veranos Canopy Tour.

Your adventure at Los Veranos Canopy Tours begins as our friendly, bilingual driver takes you on a complimentary scenic drive along the southern coast of Banderas Bay. From our air-conditioned van or open-air Mercedes jungle cruiser, you'll enjoy fantastic views of lovely beaches, palatial ocean-side villas and the craggy monoliths of Los Arcos, one of the most recognized landmarks in Puerto Vallarta.
Upon arriving at Los Veranos, our staff will give you a detailed safety briefing, taking you step by step through your upcoming canopy tour before securing you in a professional climbing harness.
We will then you walk through the tropical jungle while our expert guides share their knowledge and point out coffee trees, vanilla vines, exotic orchids and the agave plants used to make tequila. The forest is alive with bromeliads, philodendron, strangler figs and tree-bound termite nests used by migrating parakeets to house and feed their chicks.   • Las Marietas Island and Whale Watching.

This full day excursion will take you to Las Marietas Isand.   • The botanical Gardens.

The Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens is an educational research center and pleasure garden high in the glorious Sierra Madre Mountains. These gardens are easily accessible, just 12 miles south of Puerto Vallarta (on Hwy 200).
Located on 20 acres of land, The botanical collections feature over 3,000 different species of plants. The gardens are in a unique tropical dry forest ecosystem at 1,300 feet above sea level. Against the breathtaking backdrop of soaring mountain peaks, there is much to experience: Palm Gardens, Rose Garden, Tree Fern Grotto, Orchid House, Jungle Trails, Tropical Bird Watching, Agave Gardens, displays of Mexican Wildflowers and the Carnivorous Plant Collection. Bringing your swimsuit and enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal clear Rio Los Horcones.

  • City & Shopping Tour.

There’s a lot to see around the bay and knowledgeable guides will show you it all: from the Marina where the luxury yachts of the rich and famous lay  anchor, to the suburb of Pitillal, where you can find the ones who make it all work, the people of Puerto Vallarta. And then of course there is the town.
In the center, there is our most famous landmark, the church of the Virgin of Guadalupe amidst the cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs of the old town. After ample time for sightseeing, you cross the Rio Cuale and another view of Puerto Vallarta. Here, things seem to be on a smaller scale, with a distinctive character all on their own. The small stores are ideal for souvenirs.          

  • Scuba Diving.

Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico's top dive destinations, both certified divers and beginners can discover the diverse abundance of sea life in the warm, clear waters of Banderas Bay and the Mexican Pacific.

  • Horseback Riding.

Heading toward Las Palmas you will be able to admire the wonderful sightseeing of the tropical plantations such as bananas, mangos and papayas. Once you arrive at Rancho Palma real you will be assisted by bilingual staff and later assigned a horse according to your riding skills and start the jungle trail. The trail starts by visiting the village of Las Palmas with its cobblestone roads, red tiles roofs tops, and a rural country atmosphere. Continuing along the riverside you will enjoy the beautiful sub-tropical vegetation and admire the wonderful species of orchids and majestic views that nature offers. You will see the fauna and multicolor birds that will brighten your day with the singing on the trail of the waterfalls. Once there you will have time to take a refreshing break and swim in the crystal clear waters of the river.
